Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

In our efforts to be a welcoming and inclusive organization, CASA of the Fox Cities is participating in the All Children – All Families program of the Human Rights Campaign. The All Children – All Families program is the only one in the nation dedicated to LGBTQ+ inclusion in child welfare and provides resource development, technical assistance, and training. CASA of the Fox Cities has partnered with Nik Shier of HeartBrain to facilitate our efforts of practicing the 8 benchmarks of LGBTQ Inclusion. They are:
– Non-Discriminate

Becoming Nicole

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The inspiring true story of transgender actor and activist Nicole Maines, whose identical twin brother, Jonas, and ordinary American family join her on an extraordinary journey to understand, nurture, and celebrate the uniqueness in us all.

Diverse & Resilient

At Diverse & Resilient, we see a future in which lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people in Wisconsin thrive, living healthy, satisfying lives in safe, supportive communities.

CASA of the Fox Cities (CASAFC) recognizes, respects, promotes, and celebrates the value of cultural diversity.  We administer our program and services to all persons (employees, interns, volunteers, clients and families) without discrimination based on age, race, ethnicity, national origin (ancestry), color, religion (creed), gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, or
physical challenge.

“A personal colleague shared that she was interested in learning more about being an ally for the LGBTQIA+ community. I knew that the team at CASA FC has a list of helpful resources available. I reached out to my advocate coordinator, who freely shared those resources with me so that I could pass them along, even though it wasn’t related to my CASA case. I’m glad I could share these resources with members of our community.”

“I currently advocate for a youth in the LGBTQIA+ community. My case coordinator provided me with a list of resources that could be helpful as I learn how to be a support for this young person. From the list, I read “Becoming Nicole” by Amy Ellis Nutt. The book provided a very personal look into the life of a family providing the best for their children as they worked to understand their transgender child.  The parents shared how the dynamics of the family changed over time and the sacrifices that were made.  Reading this book helped me to better understand the emotions as well as some of the roadblocks facing transgender children.”
